Hire Students to Run Your First Pay Per Click Campaign

Memo: Pay Per Click Help Available
To: Business Owners of the World
From: Paul Allen, Instructor of Internet Marketing at Brigham Young University

More than fifty students have enrolled in the Internet Marketing course
at BYU this fall. In an effort to give each student hands on experience
with internet marketing, I am hoping to find businesses who will let us
set up and run their first pay-per-click keyword marketing campaign for
them.

My goal is to have at least a $100 budget for each student or student

Internet Marketing at BYU — Fall Semester 2005-2006

This fall, I\’ll be teaching BusM 457, a 3 credit hour class on Internet Marketing. My name isn\’t listed in the course catalog, and only 4 people have enrolled so far. If that doesn\’t change, and if we don\’t get at least 15 students, I\’ll be embarrassed and BYU may not hold the class. Don\’t let this happen.

Never Miss a Chance to Test Online Ad Copy

I really like Google Adwords.

Several hundred thousand companies now bid on keywords using Google AdWords.

A recent interface change makes it easier to select additional keywords. A previous change made it possible to change the maximum bid for each keyword individually.

I like what Google is providing for advertisers.

MarketingSherpa Disappoints?

I\’ve never met a bigger fan of MarketingSherpa
than myself. I\’ve read hundreds of their case studies, attended their
conferences, and purchased many reports. But the latest report on Landing Page Design

reading it cover to cover) may be the first product I\’ve ever been
disappointed by.

The reason is this: I\’m a huge fan of the ClickMap feature of
SiteCatalyst. In fact, years before they added Click Map to their

Skype Hits 100 Million Downloads

Another milestone for the distruptive VOIP company with headquarters in Luxembourg. They have also recently announced two more premium services, Skype Voicemail and SkypeIn.

As I have said many times before, the most powerful internet marketing tactic of all is to give away something valueable and free. Successful business models will then monetize the huge audience you attract with premium or add-on services or advertising revenue, a la Google.

Best Online Contest in a Long Time

LogoWorks, a fast growing Utah company that just hired one of my friends as VP Marketing, has launched what I think is one of the best and most clever marketing campaigns I\’ve seen in a long time. In conjunction with Entrepreneur magazine, they are trying to find the Ugliest Logo in America. Everyone who enters the contest is a perfect potential customer for the company.

LogoWorks has one of the most innovative, internet-enabled business models I\’ve seen, and mark my words, they are going places.
